The Senior Management of Gollis University today hosted a luncheon in honor of Dr. Sa’ad Ismail Samatar, a distinguished scholar and expert of Somaliland origin, and a long-time friend of Gollis, Mr. Muhyadin Mohamed Abdirahman.

Dr. Sa’ad has over 20 years of experience working in university as well as public libraries across the United States and currently manages some of the largest libraries in the country. He has significantly supported the Gabiley National Library in Somaliland.

Representatives of the Gollis University administration, including President Saeed Mohamed Ahmed, Vice President Abdirisaq Dahir Khalif, and Director Abdirahman Osman Jama, commended Dr. Sa’ad significantly for his efforts and encouraged him to continue and even increase his technical assistance, academic support, and patriotic efforts to establish connections between university and public libraries in Somaliland and those in the United States.

Additionally, the University Management and Dr. Sa’ad extensively discussed the creation of a Professional Association that would unite university libraries, public libraries, and major public institutions’ libraries.

This association would operate under the policy of public learning and higher education and also the guidelines by the National Commission of Higher Education of Somaliland. This Association would also focus on the intellectual growth and academic enhancement of the students at Somaliland’s universities both public and private.

The welcoming banquet and the meeting between the two parties, Gollis University and Dr. Sa’ad Ismail was concluded on a positive note, marked by mutual understanding for a collaborative working relationship.
