Hargeisa, May 31, 2025 – Gollis University and the Pharo Foundation have signed a partnership agreement to provide Civil Engineering students with hands-on technical training at the modern dam construction project currently underway in the Higlada area.

This strategic collaboration will allow students to gain valuable field experience by participating in the construction of the new dam, which features the installation of geomembrane sheets—a modern and advanced material used for water storage. Compared to the traditional plastic liners used in the past, geomembrane technology offers greater durability and efficiency, ensuring effective water conservation. This innovation will play a critical role in protecting the environment and supporting the local communities that depend on these water resources.

The agreement was formally signed by Mr. Mahamoud Mohamed Abdi, Head of the Water Department at the Pharo Foundation, and Eng. Saed Dayib, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering at Gollis University. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Abdihaakin Ismail Dacar, Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Gollis University.

This new partnership reflects Gollis University’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practice by offering students direct exposure to real-world projects. Through such initiatives, the University aims to equip its graduates with the skills and experience needed to compete in both local and international job markets.
